Bill W. to Bill W:

Ford made two optional rear bumpers for 64/66 pickups** (rear bumpers were not std equipment then). The bumpers are contured...straight on the ends, dished in the middle. These are not stepbumpers.

C4TZ-17906-A Painted Bumper

............or..............

C4TZ-17906-B Chrome Bumper

C4TZ-17787-A Inner R/Bracket

C4TZ-17788-A Inner L/Bracket

C4TZ-17795-A Outer R/Bracket

C4TZ-17796-A Outer L/Bracket

BB-17758 Bolts

**These bumpers were also used on 1967-72 Pickups using the same brackets.

**In addition, these same bumpers were available on 1973/79 Pickups with narrow rear frames (33 1/2" between rails). The brackets, however are not the same.

Ford did not offer an optional step bumper for 1964/66..most seen today are Fey Bumpers.

I am wondering why, if the rear brackets are the same thru '72 and the narrow frame '73 to '79's, why all of the rear bumpers I have seen do not list rear brackets for a '66??? I have put off a new rear bumper because I have not seen any listed that had a rear bracket kit for a '66. I was told the frames were a different width? I know that is not true since you can swap the sheet metal thru those years. I guess I am asking for some explanation and elaboration. Thanks

It's a different ball game if you have a Flareside...the above posts refer to Stylesides. The brackets for Styleside 66's, are the same as 64-72.

My info comes straight from the parts books.

Thanks, Bill, it sounds like the replacement bumper companies might not have the information correct. I will look at some bumpers from newer trucks, thru '72, now or maybe I should say bumper brackets!!!

LMC and Dennis Carpenter do not reproduce them.
They are hard to find, as most people changed them out for a step bumper - like I did many years ago.

I had to pick mine up off of evil bay for 65.00 a year or so ago.(Went on a 66 stylside F250)
I had some monstrous step bumper on mine as well.

I got very lucky as I had to hunt for a month or so.

I have read many times that the (73-79) are the same, the bumpers are not.
The holes in the bumper are wider apart, because the frames on a (73-79)
are wider not narrower than a ( 61-72). I have not tried the newer brackets on the older
trucks, and heres a link to a post where a user list them (brand new) , and
there a site sponsors also!

Read my #2 post again, the parts book states that one frame width (33 1/2) 1973/79 use the C4TZ rear bumper.

They make them at Blue Oval Truck parts. I purchased them and purchased a style rear bumper that I had purchased from another vendor and it mounted just fine. This is the link http://blueovaltruckparts.com/catalo...hp?cPath=19_21 or just go to http://blueovaltruckparts.com and then look at bumpers.

Thanks codymoch, I have not looked at that site. But just to make sure I get the right ones I would need to buy the 73-79 rear bumper brackets styleside for center mount
36 1/2 apart, Is that correct? Very Cool Site, I going to be up till Midnight checking it out. Thanks for help, Bill W

I have a 66 F100 and I thought I purchased them for a 66. I don't remember getting the 73-79 brackets. I do remember making sure the offsets were the right size. I would call them and confirm before buying online. I looked for a long time before someone turned me on to this site. I would see them on ebay but they would sell for $150+.
