if the cat is collapsing , clogging etc.. it will cause more back pressure and giving the o2 sensor a bad reading because the exhaust isnt getting out properly.
i suggest you get a sawzall or a hack saw and cut the cat out yourself and drive down to the muffler shop. ask them to weld in a pipe there for ya. if they ask what heppend tell them the section got pinched by a rock and you had to cut it out. or upgrade to the bassani Y pipe with hi flow cat , thats the direction im going.
lol....i do have a sawzall...and i do have some pretty sharp fire and rescue blades. I dont think it would cost to much just to weld a piece of pipe in. does a 302 efi with no pipes sound good. lol
Can ya still buy a test pipe? We used them in the 70's and 80's to test for bad cats and to tune. Most auto supply stores had them. But probably a ford tool idem today. It worked great as ya cut the cat of at the welds and this was made to fit and clamp in place. Temperarely of course. Had all the right bends and fit easily. Although most where thin walled.
whenever i get a day off from work i'm going to take to the muffler shop. It's still acting good, it'll get up and roll like it used to do. Has anyone ever used that restore stuff thats supossed to raise ur compression?
