Pyrometer Guage

Hey there,

My question is regarding my pyrometer guage.
For as long as I've owned my truck (about 4 months) I've noticed that the pyrometer guage never goes down to 0. Even after its sat in the cold all night it still sits at 200deg. It also takes a long time to get up to what I thought was normal operating temp, +300deg. On the hill climbs it goes up to 400deg. And the max ive seen it reach is 600deg. it also takes a long time to cool down. I used to let it sit at idle and wait till my EGT gets to 300 but now it takes forever to get down that much, just from 400 deg. So Im wondering if its the guage itself or the probe. Any ideas wound be greatly appreciated.
Trucks a 91 f-250 7.3L w/ATS turbo.

What brand of gauge is it? I'd guess the probe seeing as it is getting lazy.

Its an Isspro guage.
So what should I be looking for for signs of the probe getting worn out.
Any idea of how much a quality brand probe and guage goes for?

There is no finer pyrometer than Isspro.

You may want to check the screw connections where the thermocouple lead attaches to the wire.

Also where is the thermocouple located?

Thermocouple is the technical name for the temperature probe.
