Howdy,

A buddy & I are building a 34 Pickup hotrod and so far have a cab, wheels and some misc engine parts..
There'll be a problem later on, I think .. we don't have a vin stamped on the firewall where I thought it should be for that year.. and none to be found anywhere else on the parts we do have! Soo.. if we don't manage to find one, how do we get it registered?

Hi Steve - Welcome to FTE.

Your not going to find the VIN on the firewall or any of the parts. It was stamped on the driver side top frame rail about 8" to 10" from the very front. We couldn't find ours until I began sandblasting the frame. The VIN was also stamped on the part of the Tranny that shows when you take the plate in the cab off. I don't recall what that particular thing is called. We cross checked the number stamped on the frame with the one stamped on the Tranny in our '41 but they didn't match. We figure the Tranny must have been replaced at some point in time.

Almost forgot. If you do find the VIN, registering isn't that bad. Our DMV has a form that we filled out with a tracing of the VIN from the frame. It had to be witnessed & signed off by either a notary, licensed dealer or law officer.
