I have a 2002 ford excursion (diesel).. every time it rains.. the truck will cut off once I start slowing down to stop, turn,etc.. any suggestions? i've had it at the dealership 3 times.. they can't figure it out. Again, this only happens when it's raining! I appreciate the input!
First off, are they ANY modifications done to your truck? Intake, cab lights etc. etc.
Will the truck run when you are washing it? I know it sounds strange but if you sit and dowse it with water while it is running you may be able to pinpont where the water is intruding.
I can see the truck shutting off if it injests water. Is your airbox stock?
I ca nalso see water getting in behind the windshield or something and getting the PCM wet. Any evidence of that?
if it only happens when it is slowing down, maybe water is pooling somewhere, and when the truck decelerates, it rushes forward and soaks something that usually would be dry?
no modifications that I'm aware of. .as for it running while being washed.. I've had it at the Ford dealership 3 times now.. and one of the times they ran it thru a car wash I believe about 2-3 times and nothing happened. Airbox? Not sure what that is, but any suggestions to bring to them tomorrow will help. They are not sure what to do!
Thanks!
Since you are not familiar with the engine parts, it is very hard for us to help you. The only thing I suggest is to describe more in detail what is happening since the only thing you need for diesel engine is air and fuel. Start with your air filter, maybe it's getting wet and dirty, worth to check but unlikely.
