drum brake locking
Right rear drum brake locks at low speed when I apply it causing a short skid. It rolls free at an idle so it's not permanently on. When I park after a drive the drum is hot to the touch and the left one is not almost as if the rt. rear is doing all the work. I just replaced the wheel cylinder and all springs. Also took apart the brakes, cleaned and applied little grease to friction points and finally adjusted them after bleeding system. Did same to left side but no new wheel cylinder. At my wits end with all this work. Someone said cheap linings might lock up. Linings are thick enough but don't contain any metal. Is that a problem? If drum is out of round would that do it? It's never been hit.

My e brake never sticks when I release it. I can idle it in drive at any time on a flat surface and the truck just puts along. Anyway, I just took off the other wheel cylinder and it has a deep scratch inside the barrel near the fluid inlet and outlet holes. I'm going to replace that one since I already replaced the grabby side. Must be a case of one side doing all the work. Do you know if it's a rule to replace both sides together? My Ranger is a '99 with 85,000 miles on it. Still wondering about the non-metallic linings on it.
