Head Light suggestions

Hey Guys,

It might just be me, but the stock headlights are pretty weak. My buddy has an 06 Super Duty and they are about the same.

What has everyone out there done. Brights are okay if they were the normal driving lights.

What is the best advice out there?

My friend put in 80/100 watt bulbs from Hella and a new headlight harness for the extra amperage from painless. A noticeable difference, not HID-good, but considerably better than stock. His is a 2000 X though, with the old style headlight housings. (I dunno of the bulbs are the same or not. His are 9007's)

Hope that helps!

Isaac

HID's would be best and kits are now around the $200 range...

and if you are spending $60 for wiring harness, $60 for Silverstars....
you're 120/200 = 60% there !!!!

Course I found this out right AFTER I did the wiring harness and silverstars

i also used a harness and the silverstars both helped so i'd suggest the silverstars then a harness if you are still not happy.as for hids i've yet to see a good kit for our trucks.if anyone has on lets see a link to the product.

I am confused. I have a 05 Excursion Limited - the headlights seem plenty bright - at least as bright as any other late model car on the road, perhaps a trace brighter than some. Is it my imagination, or are they brighter (at least in terms of throwing more light on the road..?) than the earlier (as in 2000-2004 Excursions) model Excursions? And what about this comparison to "Super Duty". Is it correct that the '05 Super Duty and Excursion use the same headlight system..?

What about these capacitive discharge systems. Anyone know if we can get em for cars..? Would that be a good idea..? I have them as landing lights on my aircraft....I am sure I would get arrested if I had something that glaringly brilliant on a car...WAY too bright...!

I run HIDs...
HIGH and LOW beam, in ONE bulb. ($300) No wiring harness upgrade needed!
(a 4 ballast system, 2 bulbs, and all the light you need)

Check this thread for what I just posted to help ya out;

I'm running Sylvania Silver Stars and an updated power harness for the lights. The stock wiring is poorly insuffecient. Just update the bulbs and get a harness relay kit. I made mine but they are sold online for around $30 or so.
