Tour Of Orange - So Cal

The next outing for Pickups Limited, Orange County chapter is the Tour of Palos Verdes on January 28th, 2007 at 8:30am.

This event is designed to be a scenic tour of all things in and around the Long Beach, San Pedro and Palos Verdes areas. The ladies should love this one. You will see places you never thought existed, I know I do each time I do this run which has been about 7 or 8 times. The ladies will view some of the finest private real estate in the area and the guys will have a short run on the Long Beach Grand Prix course while they get a glimpse op the Queen Mary. We will visit great landmarks like the Korean Friendship Bell at Angles Gate Park http://www.sanpedrochamber.com/champint/korenbel.htm, Glass Church (Wayfares Chapel) http://www.wayfarerschapel.org/. Punta Point, Portuguese Bend, and Point Vicente Park and Lighthouse http://www.sanpedrochamber.com/champint/ptviclhs.htm for some whale watching if we are lucky. We will transverse some of the local landmark bridges and have plenty of photo opportunities, and yes there are rest room stops along the way.

Between all of this I am trying to arrange a visit to The Wood’n Carr in Signal Hill http://www.woodncarr.net/. Doug Carr and his wife Suzy have been making automotive dreams come true for over 30 years with hand crafted restorations of Woody wagons and all things wood for cars and trucks.

Our meeting place will be at Dale's Diner - 4339 E. Carson St Long Beach 90808 www.dalesdiner.com. This is a great 50’s diner that serves up a fine breakfast if you want to chow down before the run. Dale’s opens at 7:00am so there is plenty of time to eat before blast off time. Please let me know if you plan to have breakfast and I will give the manager a rough head count to they can determine if they want to add an extra server or not. Dale’s location is really easy to find. From the 405 freeway exit Lakewood Blvd. North towards the Long Beach Airport. Continue past the airport PAST CARSON ST. to Norse Way [at the Jack in the Box]. Make a hard right turn at Norse Way and Dale’s is at the end of the street at Carson St. The street is setup for old fashion angle parking so watch out for the front corner of your bumper on the curb.

For those of you that are not into breakfast, I have that base covered. The Long Beach Hi Performance Swap Meet at Veteran’s Stadium http://www.toppingevents.com/ is about 4 blocks away. You can either park in front of Dale’s Diner or at the swap meet itself. The swap meet opens at 6:00am which gives most of you plenty of time to check out the goodies and still make the departure time of 8:30.

Our ending spot is planned to be Ricky & Ronnie's 1301 Sepulveda Blvd Torrance 90501 www.rickyandronnies.com for a late lunch. Just check out the links I provided for a virtual preview of this event. DON’T MISS IT!

ALL CHAPTERS AND FORD TRUCKERS ARE WELCOMED
Starting time: 8:30am
Ending Time: ~~ 2:00pm depending on how much BS is being thrown around and how many pictures are taken.

Question

I must be living under a rock...here's another club I'm unfamiliar with...tho I think I saw a reference to it at the All Ford Day at La Palma Park, awhile back.

Found out about SoCal Galaxies at Knott's several years ago. that led to Bill's Automotive, the #1 Ford mechanic located in Orange.

Pickups Limited has been around since 1968. To be a member your truck should be a F100 1953 to 1956, but at our annual show it's 1979 and older and these tour's could be anything. Just want to have fun with trucks and good people. Check out the links under my name for show web site and club site, and pics.
