Kingpins

I need some info on installing new kingpins in my 51 F1. Does the spindle have to be taken to a machine shop and the new sleeves fitted to the new pins or can anyone with a good hammer put them in place?
The sleeves feel pretty tight going into the spindle and the pins feel pretty tight going into the sleeves. I don't really want to mess up a new pair of pins guessing.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The bushings should be pressed into the spindles, don't hammer them! Then take them to someone with a long reamer of the correct size to match the pins. The reamer needs to be long enough to do both bushings at the same time. Otherwise, they will not necessarily be inline with each other and the pin wll be hard to install. makes for hard turning also. Don't let someone turn the pins down to fit the bushings or the pin will be loose in the axle, Good Luck!

Get a new kingpin/bushing kit.
Find a good automotive machine show and they should know what you need done. They should press the bushings in place and ream them to fit the the new pins ...
just watch/remember were the " washer ", " Soft Spacer " and spacer were when you took the king pin out. The kingpin holds the spindle in place ..
it is a no biggie, you have to remove the tire and the brake assembly, disconnect the tie-rod ends and basically you are done ...
you have to forgive me, it was five years ago since I last did my front front spring and five years before that I re-did the kingpins ...

Maybe he partied like it was 1999 and forgot to hit the "post" button.

Did they even have a "post reply" button in 1999? Or did you have to type a bunch of html commands to post a reply?
