Anyone here have a CB radio in their SD? If so where did you mount it and do you have any pics? I am thinking of mounting one, but need to see where it would look best!
Soon as the ICE clears I'll get mine in.. I bought a 6" Tall Pedastal to mount mine infront of my center console.. I'm against drilling in my dash lol..
I have Firestix Dual 4fts replacing them next week with Wilson Sliverloads 4fts tuned.. Cobra 29 WX NS.. Last time I had this setup on my F150 I was hitting 8 mi ranges on the highway..
If you don't need a CB with a big box and prefer a more hidden installation, I found one that has the entire radio in the mike. A small box mounts under the dash (I put it under the ashtray in the Crown Vic.) and that box gets the 12v power and the antenna cable. The radio connects just like a normal mic does, but it has five wires, I think. Anyhow, you can diconnect the radio and lock it in the glovebox or buy a second box and use the radio in two different vehicles. It isn't big or fancy but lets me stay in touch when on the interstate. I have a Wilson 5000 ant. on each vehicle.
I have mine mounted on a shelf that attaches where the sun shades are. It cuts a little vision at the top of the windshield but it is not that much of a problem on a lifted truck. Some people don't like it, but I don't have much room in a reg cab for it. I will try to get a pic up for you.
I also have a 2002 with ESOF. Cobra's compact unit will fit neatly, very low on the dashboard, immediately to the right of the steering column. There is a depressed area on the dashboard that I assume gives a little room when the truck has a non-ESOF shift lever. The little Cobra fit right into it.
My son used heavy duty velcro (sp) to mount it, and it doesn't budge a bit.
I did the same thing as CorporalStorm. I used a 6" pedestal and mounted my Cobra 18 WX II on the floor. I'll take some pics tonight and post them if you still want to see.

I do.. Curious to see how you mounted.. What size Self Taps did you use? I hadnt checked that area for wires, hoping ford didnt put anything there when I drill.. The Ice is clearing up now so hopefully soon I will be able to do stuff.. I got a 98 Vic Interceptor in the drive way that's an ice cube.. Has about 2" plate of ice encasing it.. I need to go break it out so I can start it and make sure it runs LOL...
Here are some pics of the cb mount. I don't remember what size the screws are, they were just some extras I had in a jar. I think they are only 1/4" in length though.
I wanted to drill into the dash as little as possible, although I did when the trailer brake controller was installed. This set-up is really sturdy too.
