Hey everyone this is my first post here. I have learned alot by reading around but now I have a few questions of my own.
Regarding the LLS air shock system, My 1998 expedition truck is on bumpstops. I Put a mutlimeter on the relay and I am getting a correct input/output voltage reading. So I figured The compressor died out. Removed the compressor and stuck a needdle attachment from a shop compressor into the air lines and filled the rear shocks. I then quickly turned the system OFF. The air held for 2.5 weeks. Well my order is taking awhile and stilll no compressor. So i tried again to manually fill the shocks. but this time no luck. I followed all the same procedures as the first time, (turn system on, fill, turn it off quickly) But it will not fill.
Comprerssor should be here in a few days. Any ideas what i can do between now and then to fill the shocks manually? Anything i did wrong??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
If you let the shock go down completely (just turn on the switch again, close the doors and wait) then you should be able to refill them again. I did this too. I suggest that you check with www.americanairsuspension.com for a rebuilt compressor. They are the best! Also, you can buy a shraeder valve kit from them that will enable you to refill the suspension at any gas station, etc. if it ever happens again. Mr. Spinks is helpful and knowledgeable about all sorts of air suspension issues. I tried several after market compressors and they all failed. The companies replaced them with no hassle, but the hassle was mine to change them out. Then I found american air - three years later - no problem! (touch wood). I am going to change to the redesigned mounting bracket this summer. Check the forum for threads about how much quieter the new mount is.
i had a new yorker with load leveling and the system crapped out. and i went the auto patrs and got a air shock kit that had a schrader in a t fitting. and an air hose with fittings to go on each shock. it was about 20 bucks. the valve has a mounting flange to mount it under the rear bumper and i never bothered with the compressor. when i had fat people in the car i'd just add some air.
