Got my exhaust from MKO and am going to install when the ground is not frozen tundra anymore later in the week. What suggestions or tips do you guys have to make the install easier, quicker, or better? Thanks in advance for the help....
Are you changing the down pipe? If you are you will have to remove crossmember to get it out or cut it in half. As for the rear take the spare tire out and put a jack on the hitch to raise up the body to get tailpipe section out. Or if you dont want the od exhaust just start cutting it every where.
I made 2 cuts, one just before the cross member and one just past the muffler, and it came out in three pieces. The night before you do it soak the Marmon clamp on the DP with WD40 to help get it off. Take your time on th line up before you bolt it down. The 5" is pretty tight and will need some adjusting to get it to clear everywhere. The first section of pipe (4" to 5") is not dented it is adjusted in that spot to clear the crossmember bolts. Once you get the OEM off you will see the heat shield bolts hanging down in the heat shield you will want to cut the excess off so it doesn't rattle on the pipes.
With the 4" exh there is plenty of clearance no need to take the spare out.
It helps ALOT if you get a friend to hold the down pipe from under the truck while you get it lined up with the turbo flange.
By far the easiest way to get your old exh out is with a sawzall.
Make sure you have the down pipe positioned properly, a lot of guys run into problems with the pipe vibrating on the tranny cross member if its not.
Very important step here fellas. Get everything lined up before tightening the clamps then start at the turbo and work back. Check for clearances and tighten a clamp, move to the next and check the whole thing again for clearances and tighten, move to the next clamp .......
After running a few hundred miles, climb under and tighten everything again starting at the turbo and working back.

Excellent advice. The only thing I would add is that extra person for the downpipe from earlier when you got the DP lined up and loosely clamped. Have him underneath making sure the other end stays exactly where you want it when you go to tighten it down. Or you can block and brace etc if you go solo.
