You guys that are working on these 6.0L's what kind of miles are yall seeing on them? It's getting where you can'nt get any good info on this site anymore. I searched this topic. I find 112,000 with problems but they talk about hidden chips, other high miles with turbo problems that cant be fixed, which seems to me that should be pretty easy to get fixed. When i got my truck fixed and heard the injectors still running and was told that it was normal cause of the new flash my wife and i went to drive a 07 to see how it was. Could only find 2. The 08s arent even here yet and they are making anymore 07s. Seems to me somebody is likeing the 6.0Ls.
When I bought this truck i was planning on it being a keeper. I admit i've worked the crap out of it. I've hauled 22,000lbs of hay with it. {I know what my trucks rating is, and not looking to argue with anyone about towing ethics}. I really dont want to replace this truck, man is it strong. I dont know about the strongest ion the world but more power than i can use at one time. If i decide i like the 6.4L its my plan to just buy one and keep my 04 too. The thing is this would be useless if the 6.0L is only a 200,000 mile engine. It would then be better to trade and make the new truck a keeper. I'm pretty serious about this cause once i make something a keeper it stays here at the farm. I have a 85 F150 that will never go anywhere alonmg with my 02F250 5.4L. If you understand i'd really appreciate your feedback.
BTW buying a X brand is totally out of the question please dont waste my thread.
i wont bash the 6.0 it has put food on the table for me and my family.theree arnt many people that you hear say they love the 6.0. and that is sad.but they are out there.my opinion on buying the new 6.4 is if you want it get it.but i have always felt that every new design needs around 1 year and sometimes 2 to get the bugs worked out.parts will get changed and redesigned for the better.i take care of a fleet of about 150 7.3 and 6.0 .and most of them have between 60 and 250 k on them.
exiled there is a thread floating around on here and i will see if i can find it. i have seen several 100k plus miles on several trucks and we dont service fleets here. they are good trucks and they do like a hard days work. maintaining your truck and proper fuel is the life blood to everything. sooner or later you will have a issue but to what degree it will be, will only depend on your care. what year is your truck? if an 04 do tell if the icp sensor is on the valve cover or not.
From my sig you can see I bought an early '03 and I sure have had my share of problems early on. New injectors on the right bank, 2 VGT soleniods, EGR, MAP, EBP and 2 Turbos all between 4486 & 15398 miles. I now have almost 21000 on the truck and knock on wood it's running GREAT! My EGR plug fell off at 15K and I don't have the injector shakeout part of the lastest flash. All that said, I still love the truck and plan to keep it till I die. Last truck, '86 6.9 is still running good for my son. I was really pissed with Ford, not the service people but Customer Service. Since they put in the revised turbo and the EGR plug fell off, the truck has been great and the mileage has inproved. If you service the truck as required it should serve you well. BUT I would never, never, buy the first year model.

Its an 04 but i dont know what a icp s. Alittle help please.
Thanks guys your great. I'm not looking at the 6.4L its just what fixing to be avaible. I love this truck and it has killer power.
ok look at your right valve cover and you will see a little siler box ( glow plug module), and see if there is a sensor sticking through the valve cover (icp sensor).

Aight i'm not sure if i'min the right neiborhood so bare with me. On driver's side right under the degas bottle is a alu. cover is this the "gpm"? From there going toward the front of the truck right beside the alu. box is a rectangle box fixed to the vavle cover and looks to have a hose connected to it. it could be a med. sized wire harrness.
I think i just made a fool of myself i bet when you said "siler box" you was saying silver box. The other box i saw will be under the degas bottle as well.
Will you shead some light on the icp sensor please, and why does some have it and others dont. Which one is better or is it a matter of being better or not?
Aight brother you got my brain working, and it's cold for this. I got off my lazy butt and did a goggle search. After reading some stuff by ford about the icp i remember seeing something on my work order and looking at it, it says they replaced the pcm, ficm, and tcm. I dont understand fully all that i read but it said the fix for the icp sensor was replacing the ficm or something like that. Am i even close?

Reason: Got off my lazy butt
i am sorry. guess i need to read more and type less. i meant a silver box but you are on the left side. within dealing with vehiclels, left and right goes for within the way you sit inside the vehicle. the degas bottle is on the left. that silver box under the degas bottle is the ficm, and it was probably reprogrammed and not replaced. look on the other side and see if you only see a little module by itself or a module and sensor right next to it.

Na i should have slowed down then i would have figured the silver out.
I thought you was talking about as your sitting in the truck, but the other day i did'nt see the box on the driver's side so i just looked on the "left". Today i found the icp. It's right in front of the transmission dipstick. Yes it has a sensor right above the icp. Now then is this going to be a headache? The fix was to do away with this sensor, or moved it was'nt it? I studied up on it and it seemed that 03 and some 04's had problems with it and the only way to fix it was to redisn.
the reason i asked about he icp, is because of the trucks with the sensor under the turbo. these were troublesome parts but they are still dependable. all of these trucks are good, some better than others. but like i have said before, the trucks are only as good as the service department working on them. alot of these trucks have histories out the wazoo, and believe me i have ran several oasis reports for people so i have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. most of the ones i have seen that were ugly have been either misdiagnosed or overrepaired.
