well ive seen pics of quite a few 48-52 ford pickups chopped but i have never seen a 57-60 chopped. im sure there are some out there but it just dosent seem to be a very popular mod on these truck. course these trucks arnt that popular any ways but is there someone out there that has a chopped fridge truck. i just want to see what one would look like. if you could post pics that would be cool to.
A friend of mine has a chopped 58. He is a member here but I don't think he has posted in about 6 years. I can e-mail a few pics if someone want tp try and post them.
cool if you could get um posted i would appriciate it, i just want to see what one looks like. i myself am a 4wd knarly tires type of person but i appriciate a well biult street rod and pretty much any 57-60 ford. there was a thread a while back about posting pics in threads but i cant remember how to do it and havent figured it out yet.
Curved glass windshields are chopped all the time. I'd expect new outside rear pillar skins would need to be formed to keep the body lines creases straight top to bottom.
that looks cool i might just have to keep this in mind if i ever build a hot rod fridge. im just wondering how do you chop the glass do you have to have a new windshield made or a stock one cut down by a glass shop or what.
The windshield, being safety glass can be cut down by a glassman that knows what he is doing (the latter part of that sentence being the critical part). Most would require a new windshield to cut tho, trying to cut used, scratched and chipped glass dramatically lessens the chance of success.
I've heard of the 57-60s called "refrigerators", "frigidaires" and "slab-sides". I'm sure it comes from the fact that they were the first rectangular body style and resembled a large home appliance.
One of the classic truck magazines had a chopped 57 a few months ago.
i though shoebox usally refered to mid fifties chevy belairs. nicknames for different style i guess just depends on you and your part of the contry. a 56 is a fatfender and my 59 is a fridge and i love it.
