Well ole Brown finally showed up at lunch time with 2 nice pretty packages.
The install went pretty good an no problems came up except the new round shielded cable is a little big for the PCM housing and takes a little finessing. Haven't decided on a final resting place for the switch yet that will be next weekends project.
Upon starting the Check engine Light came on with a P0237 code and after looking at the install and checking things with AE I remembered that I unplugged the MAP when I took the tubes out to clean them yesterday. Plugged back in an no lights. Did a KOEO with no faults and then cranked it up in "Stock" and did a KOER with no faults. After the truck warmed up it was down the driveway.
"Stock" - Better than Ford stock with nice Crisp shifts with the BTS VB
60 Tow - Not Tested
80 Eco - Oh my God I did not know a 8K truck could do that, and you cant even feel the shifts. EGT's ran about the same as stock.
120 Race - Not tested
140 Smoke - Tried to test but could not get the rear wheels to get traction. A nice set of twin black marks on the pavement though. EGT's do climb rapidly but never crossed the 1100 mark.
High Idle (1200rpm)- The F-16 sound whenever I want it.
Overall very impressed with the driveability and responsiveness. Looking at several parameters in AE the Tranny and engine seem to be working very well together and nothing jumed out as needing attention. Now to learn how to keep my foot out of it so the increased mileage will show up.
I talk to diane today, and she said it may be 4 to 6 months before there ready to release the new Pod switch, they have a lot of testing to do first,
I'm doing the waiting game now with ole brown .
Is there a big difference between buying from Jody or ordering from ITP to get the DP Tuner? I was thinking about going through ITP so I can get the overboost equipment together.
Hmmmmm.....I see there is more to the dark side than I imagined and I am sensing a ripple in the force to the south. Sounds great Alan. How long did the VB install take? Sounds like you may have done some prep work.
Tell me more about the smoke tune, I have the 80 now, but will be sending my chip back this spring for more tunes, and I would like the option of smoking out a rice burner every now and then...
Tenn Brown showed up at 1230 and I was under the truck at 1240. A big thank you to Guzzle I had memorized his instructions and had the Tranny topped off in about 45 minutes.
The tunner was another story. i dropped my only 10mm socket down into the nether regions and took about 30 minutes to find it. I still have a little cleaning up to do and mount the switch in its final position, It started raining and I had to kick in overdrive to finish up but at 1530 I fired her up and started testing.
Al I can say on the smoke tune is hold on, The roads were just a little damp and i could not do anything but tap the peddle and the wheels broke loose and let out an aweful howl.
That makes me want to get rid of my Sonnax shift kit and go for a BTS VB and get my DP-Tuner chip reburned for the VB. Sucks I just spent a load of money on the ATS turbo shroud and WW, not to mention I just recently flushed my tranny with new fluid lol. Darn.
