I am restoring a 49 F1 1/2 ton 239, 4 speed. I have a bad 239 block. After 2 days in an acid tank cleaning it, it magged with a crack between the cylanders and the mechanic advises not to fix. I am trying to locate a good one. I would also like to find a good stock 3 speed floor shift. Direct gear shift the Ford manual calls it. Can anyone help me with this?

Those engines are getting harder to find. The
cracking problem you have is so common that sleeve
kits are available. Also, call Motor City
Flatheads in Dundee,Mich.(313) 529-3363 for
advise. They do COMPLETE machine shop work on
flathead Fords. There is no guarantee that any
block you buy will be an improvement.
