My air bag light is flashing a code 46. Code 46 is supposedly LH crash sensor not attached to vehicle properly. Anyone know where this sensor is located? We can't find it. Thanks
I had a 94 F150 and the bag light came on and thats where it is. If you don't know what your doing with it I'd suggest you let some one that does deal with it.
Theres a LH and a RH- doesn't make sense that something with a left and right would be in the steering column? Are they both in there? Seems like it should be out front some where- but I don't know

This is a very delicate situation you have here, one wrong move and POOF!!! Air bags have been deployed and now you are out $1,000+ for a new steering wheel, passenger side airbag & dash has been ripped appart, and possibly a new windshield. Disconnecting the battery does not always prevent airbag deployment. This is one of the few things I would not be trying to save money on by doing the job myself.
Most sensors are in the bumper area, behind the bumper. It's probably a small/little black box that looks kind of like a relay. It's something you'll want a shop to handle for you so they take responsibility for a blown bag if that happens. It may be something as simple as making sure the plug isn't dirty, or that it's completely plugged together.
There was a recall for 1999 F250 air bag sensors, well for the tow hooks actually, but because the airbags wouldn't deploy correctly. Have you had any light impacts to the front of the truck?
This is a Lincoln one, but yours should be very similar (originally I had the image here, but it seemed to slow things down). You should find yours probably on the end of the frame rail, near the front bumper.
Alright, thanks guys I'll look for it. I don't think anything has hit the front of the truck, unless someone hit it in a parking lot or something. I'm pretty comfortable with air bags- I haven't messed with any ford bags though. I worked at a GM dealership and worked on those. According to my service manual this truck is the same- just uses a capacitor to store some power during a wreck. My service manual says to wait I think 3 minutes after disconnecting the batteries. I'm gonna give it longer than that just to be sure.
