I havent even recieved my edge yet and ive already read the entire manual online. It says that in the performance setting that at least 91 octane is required. Does this mean for best results that 91 octane is required or does it mean that it will not perform with anything less than 91. Thanks guys and anything else that current edge owners suggest would be appreciated.
It means you MUST use 91 or higher octane on level 3 "performance" to prevent damaging the engine. The timing is advanced a considerable amount over stock on level 3 (this is where most of your "performance" comes from) and any fuel with an octane rating lower than 91 will cause detonation/preignition that could potentially tear up your engine.
So do all edge users fill up with 93 octane? When I went from my mustang to my truck as a daily driver one of my biggest things to look forward to was being able to use 87 octane. Damn!
You can still run 87 octane on the level 2 "tow" setting and then tweak that setting with a custom profile. Under the custom profile you can adjust various parameters such as timing, wot shift points, speed lmiiter ect.... It really opened up my old truck, 05 STX ext cab 4x4 4.6l with 87 oct. and i can't wait to put the tunes on my new one.
Okay...I will be getting an Edge here in the next two weeks and my main focus for getting this thing is a bit of extra grunt here and there and the fact that I would like to adjust my shift points a bit.
Tweaking shift points is possible, right? I mean, with the bigger tires I put on this thing, it seems that it wants to disengage the torque converter at the drop of a hat. I would love to solve that issue...and I know good and well that it would help out on my mileage, too...
I am guessing that the TQ lock up is not controlled by RPM to throttle position but by load? Or is it controlled by somthing else? I have many bridges and hills to go over back and forth to work...
Also guessing that there is a USB interface for upgrading the flash in case of issues with the tuner itself...is there software that can be installed on a laptop that can give graphical displays of the various changes that are made with a particular vehicle?

HELLO,
CHECK OUT OUR WEB SITE OR GIVE US A CALL. WE HAVE A PROGRAMMER TO FLASH YOUR ECM TO IMPROVE YOUR SHIFT POINTS AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE TRANSMISSION.
I run on level 2 all the time with 87 octane fuel.
The Edge definately make the truck more responsive
Level 3 with 91 octane is pretty cool - Don't expect a mustang GT now, this is still a big heavy truck.
So... Basically level 1 is just for more positive shifts and gas mileage, level 2 is has more torque with better positive shifts and gas mileage, and level 3 is all that + MORE POWER. Right?
Sorry...prefer the edge's looks...can set it up with the dash-mount readout and set it to show all the diffrent parameters monitored...especially like the trans temp and air charge temp readings.
I also answered my own question doing some more digging...went to edge's website and found that it does come with software that you can use to interface with the edge and get graphical displays and such. Very nice.
Just ordered my Edge 2400 from Discount Power Parts...got it on the overnight so I figure mebbe saturday I will get it. take a week to play with it and see what it will do.
I just got my edge today. Installed it in about 5 minutes and went for a small drive. Already I can see an increase in performance, especially the really solid shifts. Ive got it on level 2 where I think it will stay. I dont know if its just me but the exhaust sounds a little better. Maybe its just me wanting it to be like that.
