I have a 87 ranger with a 2.9 in it. Just tuned up,wires, plugs, cap & rotor, new fuel pump and filter and o2 sensor. After 15 - 20 min of driving the engine starts to drown in fuel (stumbles and loads of black smoke) Fuel mileage is way down also.I noticed today when i fueled up the gas tank was FULL of pressure which i never noticed before. After filling the tank the fuel started to bubble out of the tank.Never saw that before either, and it was very cold today so heat is not the issue.I'm thinking to much tank pressure could be forcing fuel into the engine. So the question is, is this possible and should this truck have a vented fuel cap on it? It looks vented but i'm getting a lot of pressure all of a sudden
I already checked the pressure regulator, and it held vacum. It also looks new. The pressure in the fuel tank seem to start at the same time the truck started flooding out.The truck runs great a long as your not trying to maintain a single speed, thats when the flooding is the worse.Under acceleration it runs great
