BowTieHatr, thanks for your reply. As I have read alot of these forums I have come to respect your (and others) comments. I get the feeling you are very knowledgable about these trucks. Is this a flash I should request my dealer to do and if so is there a flash "#" associated with it??

Just to expand on what someone else told you. I actually had one ford tech tell me that not only should I use motorcraft oil (for some different reason, can't remember his exact reasoning) but that to get the proper motorcraft oil I had to buy it from a Ford dealer because the stuff they sell in parts stores and wallmart is different. Does that give you an idea of the BS they are trying to push off on you?

I figured they would push their product. It was over $3.00 a quart. What brands is everyone using? Levi

Okay, I gotta ask..... I've got a '06 350 PSD (engine build 11/22/05). The last time the dealership had the truck was 9/06 (for a waranty claim). Should I call them up and schedule an appointment to get this latest flash or not. Thanks for the advice.

My 06 F350 PSD was just in the shop last week for it's 15,000 mile maintance and no flash was reported anywhere on the paperwork so I am assuming no flash was done.

Wouldn't they know by running your vin if a flash needed to be done?

Aaron they should if it was a recall, but unless you are reporting a problem that is corrected by a TSB it won't come up as it's not needed unless the problem is the complaint. An open recall will show up when they run the VIN but not a TSB.

the injector buzzing is actually a tsb. if you go and complain about runs rough when cold, you should be able to get the flash with no issues.

well here is what i have heard from important people. motorcraft oil is whatever oil company will bottle it for ford. it could be any oil company out there. but i will say this, whenever ford has outsourced anything, i have always found reports of certain requirements being met. it is like the racor filters. ford boxes them as motorcraft but thet dont make them. but the racor filter has strict guidelines to go buy for fomoco.

i have seen the oasis report for my truck and it does show it was brought in for cold start issues, but i think this was well before this latest flash was released, could you guys post what we would see on the oasis report for each year. if you have that info. i was thinking of bringing mine in, you have me convinced,

Thanks Rob.

I guess I was a little confused because I have seen people post on here about having flashes done even though they did not want them.

So for clarity: a "fix" flash will be done if the problem is presented to the dealer (and there is a flash for it), a "recall" flash will be done if your vehicle fits the "recall criteria" regardless of complaint or not?

Well, I took my truck in yesterday for the injector flash. Took them about an hour and a half. When I got the truck back they had placed a letter on the dash explaning the work that was done and that after shutting down the truck I will hear a buzzing sound coming from under the hood. It went on to say that this was normal.

I will say that I'm not "annoyed" by this sound. It sounds similar to the fuel pump buzz, but much softer. I shut down the truck and just walk away and not even give it a second thought.
I haven't driven the truck enough to see if any new issues have come up but well see. The dealer did tell me that there were no other flashes for my truck other than the injector flash so I guess that's good news.
