Thanks! If I find a cheap transmission I'll buy it and maybe mock up something- but for now I think I'll have to get another front drive shaft, I just have to have this truck move-able, it's been undriveable for almost a month! I've tracked one piece down in a yard out of state- we'll see what happens with it.

With my 4 speed behind the 390, I actually got the flywheel from a buddy, it came with the transmission and bell housing he sold me. I just had a new ring gear put on and had it re-surfaced. The pressure plate was brand new and included in the clutch kit I bought, and most of the clutch petal linkage came from the junkyard. You gotta love the way Ford did things in the old days, I pulled linkage bits from trucks of all different years- a petal set off a 79- the z-bar and brackets off a 70' and a few bits of a 65! Then there was a bunch of linkage I got from my buddy that I have no idea what years they were off of. They all fit great on my 73! It seems that from about 65-79, Ford kept things really similar.

One problem was some of the linkage didn't have bushings, and the holes where they went together were reamed out pretty bad, so I decided to made my own bushings out of brass stock and fit them into the holes. It helped fill the gaps and make all the linkage nice and tight.

Low is for the salt flats with a .77 final. See pics in my 59F350 albumn. jbbmw

jbbmw, it’s been ages since you started this thread. Are you still around? Is there a way to see pics of this setup?
I’m curous what the stock 4spd was.
I have a NP435 in my ‘64 and I’m considering mounting a second NP435 behind it as you did here.
