What is the difference between a 1996 CPS and a 2000 CPS given they are both 7.3 engines

Thanks bodabdan that was good info. I would like to know if there is a difference between the 94-96 CPS P/N 4C4Z-12K073-AB and the 97-03 CPS P/N F7TZ-12K073-A both are the black ones but they have different part numbers.

I really don't know, but I heard something about different metallurgy a while back. Maybe that's it. This link has several numbers listed and it's a good reference even if it doesn't answer this exact question.
