There is a rumor that the V10 will be replaced by the NEW soon to be out "BOSS" V8 engine. If that is correct, then it might be in the '09 model year...and only for the F250 and F350. Should still be available in the F450?!?
What I have "heard" is that FORD is going to only have a two engine option in the F250 and F350 starting '09 model year. The all new BOSS gaser...and 6.4L PSD. The 5.4L is done too!
Non "green state" 2008 Model year has the F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, E-350, E-450, F-53 all get some version of the mighty V10... I don't see ford re-tooling all these chassis for a new V8 any time soon...easier to adapt the V10 to be compliant in the green state markets by adding EGR and forget about it... the V10 has an extraordinary emissions record as being a very clean motor
A google search can bring up at least 5 domestic U.S.A. generator and water pump manufactures who use the V10 as the power source
I am an optimist and think the V10 is good out to 2010 and maybe as far as 2012 if E-85 or the 3 fuel version are factored in... the only thing that can really kill the 415 gas motor is if the 6.4L diesel is a winner... Fords history with diesel motors suggests this may not be a real threat...IMO
...easier to adapt the V10 to be compliant in the green state markets by adding EGR and forget about it...
Which exasperates me to no end... I wonder if the current variable plenum on the 3-valve wouldn't like it much with an EGR in there? Too much crud winding up in the intake because of the cutoff valve basically stagnating the air/exhaust mix?
Also, I wonder if the motor mounts and bellhousing don't change, how much the Boss would really change things?
I can see it now: This site being flooded with "Why does my Boss get such bad gas mileage?"
When I see Ford paying for two page Ads in RV magazines promoting the V10 RV Chassis, I see this outstanding engine being around for a few more years.
What really killed the gasser RV market was the fact for a few years, the only way to get the maximum tow ratings was to go diesel. It is surprizing to find out how many people believe this never changed.
The truth is ,in 05 ,when the V10 was given the same 23000 pound GCWR as the PSD,
it truly became the top towing engine because the V10 is 500 pounds lighter than a PSD. THE V10 TRULY IS RATED AT TOWING MORE THAN A PSD.
The new engine will be call the Boss with is also known as the Hurricane engine. If you google the term Ford Hurricane motors there is a wealth of information. An example would be: http://www.answers.com/topic/ford-boss-engine
The Boss engine will reportedly displace 6.2 L on introduction, with the ability to exceed 7.0 L in future applications, and produce more than 425 hp (317 kW) and 425 ft·lbf (576 N·m). It will be built at Cleveland Engine in Cleveland, Ohio. The first application will be Ford's F-Series pickup trucks produced at Dearborn Truck. It has been rumored that the Boss will retain many of the Modular V8 design cues such as a deep skirt block with cross bolted main caps, oiling system design, and overhead camshaft valve train arrangement. The Boss' largest departure from the Modular V8 is the significantly wider 116mm bore spacing.
The engine was initially called the "Hurricane", but this was changed in mid 2006 to the storied Boss name[2] in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
With increasing diesel engine prices and diesel fuel prices climbing, I agree there could be a number of future owners who choose to change from diesel back to gas powered power plants under the hood. 425 HP/TQ could make a nice tow vehicle depending on the power curve.
All I can say is "Ford Get r Done"......"But do it Right"

I cannot provide any internet info but I will say that I work at a company that has the purchase order from Ford for some transfer machines and some cnc machines. All Ford reps that come to where I work say that the "Boss" name is now named "premium V8"
Transfer machines will do engine block machining
Cnc machines will do heads
Also the the new engine is slated for Romeo engine plant
Pic is doing some cnc testing, head is a 5.4 3 valve
