Cool '85 5.0EFI won't start

Well folks, I found this place at my wits end. I have an '85 F150 5.0EFI that will not start. Last time it started, it started and was warming up, but was running rough and at a low rpm and died. It never started again. I changed the usual suspects, fuel filter, pump, pressure regulator to no avail. Starter fluid had no effect so changed plugs, verified spark, and still will not start. Pulled the fuel rail off injectors to verify fuel is getting there which it is, but not out of injectors. Ordered an OBD-1 code reader from eBay and when it came I read the codes as 21, 24, 31 and 31. These were coolant temp sensor, air temp sensor and EGR sensor, so changed all of the these and EGR valve since it was shot too.

Today, after changing the sensors it still will not start. I re-read the codes and get 21, 24, 31 and 11. At least the constant code is now reading system ok. I reset the EEC and still no start. Re-read the codes, still 21, 24 and 31. I can't imagine why these codes still come up as all of these sensors are changed.

One thing I did notice is that when I turn the key, no idiot lights light up - no check engine light, seatbelt, nothing. I would imagine that should indicate something but I have no idea what!

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here?? I'm about to drop an M80 in the tank and eliminate these problems forever!

Gees 4rd, I'm hoping computer isn't fried! I would hope I would get a trouble code for it or something.

Carter, I don't know. I had them cleaned a couple years ago and use injector cleaner every so often. I would think that it would run rough for a couple of weeks or so, not just for 30 seconds, plus I would think that one or two would clog, but I'm not getting fuel out of any of them.

So, I thinking that maybe relays might need changing?? Computer. Man, I don't want to spend that much, but I might have to. I'm thinking if relays don't fix it, it's going to have to be towed in to a shop.

You won't get a code if the fuel filter won't let fuel into the injectors, what fuel pressure are you getting? (Nor any codes for the fuel pressure regulator)

Rebooting the computer usually takes about 30 min, then clear the codes from the reader (remove the battery or press clear function) Are you getting spark? Don't short the coil out to check it that way...

Yes, got spark, fuel filter changed, all that stuff, cap and rotor.

Does anybody know where the relays are located?? My Explorer has them in a nice fuse type box on the fender well. I have no idea on this truck???

Got it running tonight, dang thing had jumped time. The timing chain was unbelievably stretched after over 250K miles, no wonder!

If you care to see the pics of what the chain looked like just hanging loose around the crankshaft gear, check out this link with pics of old chain and how much slack is there vs. the nice new one - it is amazing!

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to put pics in the posts here, sorry!

After changing everything, it should last another 260,000 miles on that timing chain, the pictures and the hard work you put into it will make it to the fishin hole...the fish won't know you're comin to get em as you'll be there so fast. good job!
