i bought a 2000 f 250 v10 cc 3.73 gears 4x4 and was towing today for first time. just bought truck a month ago anyways my problem is when going up a very small grade the truck will go from maybe 55 to if lucky 40 miles an hour no power what so ever trans does not shift rite away then when it does it revs really high not slipping high but high like 4000 rpms on this forum ever one talks about the v10 power and it didnot work overly well any help would be nice by the way i was only towing a four place snowmobile trailer enclosed with 4 snowmobiles in it. trailers a 21-24 footer tranny was just flushed when i bought it with a new air cleaner installed
OK, you have this truck, fuel mileage sucks and it doesn't seem to tow like you expected it to tow. You hit the hill t 55 and the trans kicked down and slowed to 40.
Your catalytic converter is clogged. Unhook your exhaust at the Y pipe and see if your truck doesn't run better. (It'll be loud).
I can't speak for the v10, but us 5.4 guys know that 4.10s(or 4.30s) make ALL the difference. The 5.4 straight up can't tow any significant weight with 3.73s IMO.
