It is supposed to be somewhat of a interference press fit. No gasket. When I did my exhaust upgrade, mine just popped off as well. I still think it might be leaking a little and causing a ticking noise. Unless the gap will fill up with exhaust soot, I think the only solution is to replace the Y pipe as I haven't found one on the forum. My downpipe was also leaking pretty bad as the clamp was loose. I haven't looked to see if there is an exhaust sealant type thing that might work.

Mine is solid with carbon, I am not going to disturb it.

I have been thinking about this though, and I have never tried this.
I wonder if you could possibly use something like a small strip of header wrap or muffler bandage in that joint when you reinstall it?
It would probably be a pain to get together, but would slow the leak down till the carbon could build up and seal it.

I think the header wrap is too thick but I had been thinking about some other high temp material that might be 0.010" thick. The other thing I thought about was using some of the liquid stuff. Mine has been getting quieter as I drive so I am hoping it goes away when it fills up more with carbon.

well i am not sure it is the leak on mine but it does sound like a leak on a gasser, and there is the area the sound comes from, so i honestly don't know my truck sit for 6 years before i bought it and i worked on it and got it on the road, he sold it because of a loun knock, which was the DMF i installed SMF luk. then i would get a tick from time to time, and i found the leak in the exhaust. the truck runs get has power and starts easy. the luk does make some nosie and i read that is common. the truck has just over 200,000 miles on it. i changed the oil and filteran add lucas oil treatment, the fuel filter, changed the tanks, been running diesel kleen through every tank. the ticking sound i am not so worried about now due to it can not be to major or i would have blowed her all to heck.

so what else can i do? and have i done the right thing so far, i like to here your opions
