Suspension and Body
I recently perchased a 1960 Panel Truck and am unsure about some things. Why when people refer to putting a Camaro Subframe under a vehicle it is always a pre '81. Will a newer one not work?????? Would it be easier to convert to 4-wheel Drive or upgrade to a newer suspension?? Where in the world can I find body parts for a panel truck? Should I go with a built up Big Block or a small block? Any responser are appreciated.
Thank you, 1960Panel (Andy)

Andy,
The reason is track width, there are a couple of different clips that you can put under the truck. You can use a camero or a valorie clip, or get one of the weld in adaptors that use either mustang and dakota parts. I personely like the weld in adaptors you don't have to cut off the front of the truck so you won't have to manufacture new body mounting brakects. And there are lots off aftermarket parts for the mustangs. You can actually get everthing new so you don't even need a donor car. With gas prices these days I'd go for a small block. I'm putting a 302 C6 in my 60 F100. There isn't a lot of sheet metal available for the 57-60 trucks. The only good thing is with a panel you won't have any rust out in the bed or cab corners to worry about. Hope this helps.
