It totally depends on how the truck is done (to me anyway).
A stock style truck should have all the emblems. They look funny without them.
A hot rod should be shaved and smoothed.
I totally agree with that i suppose some hot rod style trucks wouldnt look that bad with emblems really looks nice with all the original trim and emblems
but then if it was original it wouldnt look right without the trim and emblems
On my '56, I don't think it would be the same without the badges! It looks amazing with them all, and I had them off for paint, and couldn't wait to get them back on. =)))
I like the old-school badges - they tie the old with the new. However, I do not care so much for body chrome. There is such a thing as too much, like the MoPars and upscale GMs of the era.
That being said, I also dislike a paint line - like where the color changes on a two-tone truck. For instance, the line on the bumperside trucks always looks tacky to me - I want it covered with a lenght of body chrome.
Modern cars, no badges. Old cars, every single piece of trim it has. I like seeing the old door handles, exposed gas caps and such. They had a more "machine" look to them back then, and that's what I like about old stuff. I find an old Harley or Norton interesting to look at, see all the parts, nuts and bolts, but modern sport bikes (unless you take the body work off) kind of bore me. No parts to look at.
I even added extra chrome to my 49. I took the front fender spears from a 63 or 64 Mercury big car (theres 4 on each side) I ground them down a bit to fit the profile of my doors and mounted 2 on each door.
I also took a a couple fo glove box door badges from a 63 Galaxie 500 and mounted one on each side of my hood near the hinge area. I thought the little 500 emblem would be a great touch to go along with my 500 Caddy engine.
I for one loved the late 50's cars and all the excess chrome they had....

A slick is a slick. I removed the badge on the hood as that was all that caught yer eye. Left the side emblems. Take a look at her she wouldn't look as clean with the center hood badge.
I prefer a little bit of both...keep it modern but still classy....mines have the door handles and mirrors (bling)....but later on I will got to the poppers and maybe a suicide door setup...(ol'skool)...you don't see that anymore around the old tin....now the butterfly and 90/180 degree door openings are popular...classic truck magazine had a black one a couple of issues back with the butterfly (looked crazy due to the door being so big)
