I have a 2007 6.0 f-250 Crew and am on the first tank of fuel since returning from a long trip. On the trip I got good mpg 16-18 now after 1/2 a tank I am running 13 mph. Normaly with the same driving I would be getting 15-16 mpg mix of highway and city. The only thing that has changed is before the trip I started Using Power Service in the fuel. Anyone have ANY Ideas as to what could be causing my problem.
Don't panic until you have THAT tank of fuel out. Next fill up, get your fuel at a station that goes thru a LOT of fuel - it may not be the cheapest place. Use your Power Service with EVERY tank, esp this time of year. Hopefully you are using the white bottle.
How many miles do you have on the truck. Diesels may not get their best milage until you have over 10-20,000 miles.
Have you been idling longer? Is it colder there? Have you been using 4 wheel drive? Are you driving faster? Also, has it all been winter blend fuel? These are all things that will effect your mileage regardless of using Power Service. That will not increase mileage, but will help Cetane, gelling, etc.' My truck will very from tank to tank as much as 3 mpg average but it all averages out dependent on the season..... I wouldn't worry unless it consistently stays low along with rough starts, and lots of smoking
Thanks for the replies The truck has 8000 miles on it I have been getting my fuel from the same station with a lot of truck traffic and my driving habits have not changed no long idols no hard driving just to and from the same job empty both ways the temp has gone down slightly but daytime temp is averaging the same I didn’t feel the power service would be causing the problem but didn’t know if there might be some kind of adjustment period and yes I am using he white bottle.
Remember, when you 'tip into the boost' your mileage will suffer. Anything over 10 psi will do that and it does not take many incidents of 'boost happy' to do that.
