Fuel Filters - I think so... You want Racor made with the white media covering on the large HFCM filter. Cheapest place to buy is local Int'l dealer and they cost around $32.00 for the 2-filter kit.
Oil Filters - Oil Guard sells both OEM (Racor made) and "will-fit" oil filters. You only want OEM/Racor made oil filters and they are less expensive at places like Walmart where you can buy the Motorcraft brand for $19.99/ea or the Fram (Racor made too) for a few dollars less!!!!!!
If your speaking of Oil Guard's by-pass oil filter kit or filters... then they are good too and made by Racor (same filter as Racor system).
Racor makes the OEM filter and makes them for others. Oil Guard sells a "will-fit" filter and Racor made filters (check their website). To sell filters for $10.00/ea there is a difference... common sense tells us this.
Motorcraft (Racor made) oil filters cost around $19.99/ea at Walmart or some auto parts stores.
Fram (Racor made) sells at Walmart for around $16.00/ea and less when on promotion at some auto parts stores.
Racor's own website states that they made the OEM filter housing too only accept their filters (ensures profits for Ford and Racor made filters - either Racor brand or their licensee's).
For a few dollars it is not worth chancing... just like the fuel filters. Racor is the OEM manufacture and holds the patent for the white media on the large HFCM filter. No one else has this. WIX/NAPA sells one that fits, but lacks the proper media/fiber "Aqua-Bloc" media.
Again... for oil... its about being 1 - 2mm less in height and other aspects people have reported... and to the "eye" you can not see these slight differences!!
Check out the Racor product bulletin just for oil filters (it is a few yers old, but it is relevant for what to look for).
WARNING: The brand names listed in this document were current when printed (several years ago)... but have since changed. Do not rely on this document to buy or use Racor made oil filters as the info (brand names) is OUTDATED!! I have sent an email and have spoken to Racor about receiving an updated list and they are working on it. Racor is suing some/all "will-fit" filter companies for patent infringement and warrenty concerns.
