I have a 1988 bronco with a 5.8. The engine runs strong and solid but sometimes has problems starting. It usually starts right up when the engine is cold but after using it and warming up it will sometimes drag like a dead battery. You can let it sit a few minutes or continue to try to crank it and it will suddenly crank up normally and start. The enging did have a rear seal leak before so I was thinking maybe oil build up on the starter fouling it up. I was fixing to check and clean all cables from the battery, solenoid, starter, any other suggestions before I start trouble shooting?
Check the fuel pump pressure, it can be failing intermittently and won't trip any codes. Mine would stall when hot and restart an hour later like nothing happened...couldn't figure it out until it died for good
