i was out in the snow today, and about every 2 minutes my driver side tire would pop out of 4x4 and it felt like i hit a huge pot hole. i turned around and make it back home so i'm hoping it's just a bad hub but was wondering what my problem could be and if any one has any input on what i should do? i have a 1980 f-150 ranger explorer. thanks

When you said it popped out of 4x4, did you have to stop and fix it? (ie re-lock the hub)
I've had old trucks with sized u-joints that when you first start using 4x4 they make some really cool sounds. They will also toss the steering wheel around if you're not going perfectly straight.
I would pop the hub off and take out the guts and inspect it. You could have striped splines, or it could be just a bad hub.
Go to the junk yard and get replacements. And spares too if you can...
