Have any of you guy used these Sealed Power Coated Pistons http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-S...QQcmdZViewItem
I am going to rebuild 92 roller 5.0 to put in my 91. I am starting to buy the parts I need and seen these on ebay.Jim
I don't think those are the right compression hiegth...I made the same mistake once, put one of the pistons in and it was like .020 down the hole so I would have lost all kinds of compression.
I used those in my rebuild as well. So far they are great, although I only have 500 miles on the rebuild so far. I got mine from Summit Racing for $79.12 and the part # was STL-H273CP20 ( mine were .020 over sized)
you need 1.619 compression hiegth to get the piston to 0 deck hiegth....
Yea, be warned, not all flat top 289/302/5.0 pistons have the correct pin height to achieve zero or near zero deck. Many have a 1.585 P/H leaving the piston top .020+ down the hole at TDC.
I stuck these inthe 350 i droped in my Camaro 2 years ago. Main reason I went with the coated skirts was to help with any piston slap I might get going to a .040 oversized piston. All it is is extra insurance for ya. If you are only doing a .020 over bore, regular un-coated speed-pro pistons should be fine.
