Can anyone send me a color picture of the engine compartment of a 58 or 59 F-100 with 232( or tell me where to find one)? I am trying to get the original colors for everything. I have 2 trucks and each one is different! Are firewall and inner fenders supposed to match the body color or were they black? Air cleaner black or blue?
Hi, The firewall should match the body color, but the inner fenders are black, and the air cleaner is also black. Is that 232 a misprint? My 1957-67 ford pickups book says:
57-60 223 6cyl. (standard equipment)
engine paint: block=red, accents=black
1958 F series 272v8 or 292v8 (optional equipment)
engine paint: block=red, accents=black
* (272 was replaced by 292 halfway through production year. This caused supply problems and some 312's were installed in place of the 292)
1959 F series 292v8 (optional equipment)
engine paint: red, blue, black for block, black for accents.
My '59 F250 4X4 has a black block, red intake and side covers, and blue valve covers.
I hope this helps you some.

Hi Nate, The book I have is "Ford pickups 1957-67". It is a restoration guide published by Motorbooks international. I had ordered it from an ad in Hemmings Motor News. I looked up the engine specs for your '64. They listed everything but the engine colors for that year. It is a great book with pictures of each year, engine specs, production, etc. Sorry I wasn't able to help on the engine colors.
