air-propane IC idea.

since propane is frickin freezing cold, the lines it flows through also get very cold. So like an air-water heat exchange IC it seems to me you could run a air-propane IC and get better results. Just an idea I had while watching pinks and a guy was blasting his IC with some kind offreezing cold gas. NO2 or something.

Sure.....it would work fine. Spraying it down with just about any compressed gas with make the exchanger more effective....but it would get horribly expensive if it was something you wanted to use running down the road instead of just racing.

For everyday use it would be cost effective to rig up a little fogger bar and a pump and spray water over the cooler.

co2 is whats commonly used on the sprayer bars. it has the best exchange ratio on a gas that can be vented. r-12 freon has better but ya would be put in jail for blastin that off in the open.

ive got a sprayer bar on my truck and just run water through it. with my old ic it made an average of about 200deg drop now with the spearco i dont see much more than a 50deg drop unless its over 100deg then i see about 100deg drop

Nice.....spunds like that Spearco is an efficient unit. Too bad they don't give them away

Were you running a 7.3 or a 6.0 cooler originally?

I was thinking actually propane for the dual purpose, you could use it for injection and cooling...but actually snaking propane lines through the IC just the like air passages are so you would get that heat exchange without firing any propane into the atmosphere. Could plumb it in something like from the tank to the IC, to the regulator, then to nozzle. Not actually spraying on or in the IC.
I guess a bunch of little nozzles (so they cover more area) firing into the IC on either the inlet or outlet side could even help.

I have seen an A/C cooled intercooler. it was for rice burner apps but if made big enough you could use it post IC and use your AC system to further cooler you Charge Air. But the coost effectiveness of it you might as well by a Spearo or DIIC
