60 F100 VIN help
My daughter just purchased a 1960 F100, her first truck. We are looking to restore it. Can someone decode the following VIN and data plate numbers?
F10 J 0 A 12020
From the data plate on the glovebox door.
110 F 101 24L A 01
4000 126 4000 0192

60 F100 VIN help
Hi, your vin # reads as follows:
F10 = F100 2 wheel drive
J = 223 cid six cylinder
O = model year 1960
A = Atlanta assembly plant
12020 = sequential production number
I'll try to look up the glove box tag info for you.

Here is what my 60 Shop Manual says about the glove box plate.
W.B. 110"
Color F Sky Mist Blue
Model 101 GVW 4000
Date 24 Nov
Transmission 3 Speed Standard
Rear Axle 3.70-3.3M
Max GVW 4000 lbs
Cert. Net HP 126
HP@4000RPM
My Book says the last thing on the plate is the D.S.O., I don't know what it is and it doesn't descirbe it.
Also my 60 Ford Owners Manual list the 223 HP at 139 HP at 4200 RPMs, so go figure! Also the rearend is a Ford 3300 which I believe is know the 9", but I'm not sure. They may not be compatible.

If you want anything from the manual let me know and I'll scan it and Email it. I don't have the complete manual but most as it applies to the F100. But not your tranny I had the T98 4 speed.
