I have a 2000 F250 4X4 crew cab Lariat.Over the last several months,I have noticed the LED numbers becoming dim.Now they are out completely. Is this unit replaceable? How difficult/expensive?Thank you in advance.
I've had an intermittant failure of the console, and now it's completely gone. I had a local dealer look at it and they gave me a price of over $500 to replace. About 100 of it was labor. FYI. I've decided to live without it for the time being.
PULL, my 99 SD overhead died, there is a fix for it, the flat resistors, come unsoldered. Just pull down, it kinda snaps in, then there are screws that hold the ckt. board and display.

i wouldnt pay any labor to replace the unit it couldnt take more than 30 minutes.
Careful here, the assembly lives on the CAN bus, and probably needs to be reprogrammed for the correct fuel tank size or your miles to empty won't be correct. The labor bill probably includes the time to hook up your truck to the programmer to perform this function, as well as the physical installation.
As I wrote earlier, I decided that I could live with out the computer if it was going to be +$500 to fix. The dealer pu the old one back in and it has worked perfectly since then. Must have been dirty contacts?
