i dont know if they will fit but maybe some taper proof lug nuts off some small car and get the tool for them as well. just get some solid finish washers or something of that type to put under them so you have a flat surface... just a thought i dono
Yeah tack weld usually keeps the amatures away. It is quick, only gotch is removing the lights if you ever need to.
If you want to be a little tricky you might think up a way to drill thru the studs and put in steel braided cable with a loop and padlock somewhere, or with the loop tied down somewhere under the hood so that they have to pop the hood before they can undo it. Popping the hood takes time if you don't have the key.
The more time wasters you can put in, the less likely thugs are going to spend on your truck. They want the easy thefts. Only the pros will spend a lot of time.
If it were me I would wire a hand grenade into the braided steel cable.
You could drill a hole through the nut and bolt when they are tight and drive a pin through them making sure the pin is flush with the bolt, kind of like a castle nut.
That way they would need a punch to take off the bolt and you could remove the lights later. Also it would be easier to drill on the flat surface of the nut than the round surface of the bolt and messing up your threads.
Wire a tazer into the circuit so that 50,000 volts are going through the casings at all times. The hand grenade idea is a good one.... I like the way you think. With this rash of SD's being stolen these days (just check the posts, mainly TX and LA and places close to the border) I want to rig my truck up to explode should someone steal it.. preferrably with them still inside. It's my d*mn truck, leave it alone! That's how I feel anyways, and I'm willing to bet that each of you guys feel about the same way. Anyways, the best and simplest way to secure the lights is really just gonna be to plop a couple of welds onto the nut/bolt terminal position. That's gonna stop about 95% of the people out there wanting to take your lights, the other 5% are those who just want your truck and take the whole thing. Ok, that's enough i'm gonna get myself riled up!
