The recall for the cruise control is an issure with the switch mounted in the end of the brake master cylinder. Brake fluid would get into the switch and in some instances would catch the truck on fire. The circuit is always live, so the truck could even catch fire when not being used. I just had the recall done and it only takes a few minutes. They change the switch and use a fused jumper wire to go from the new switch to the old plug that was used on the old switch. There is no cost to you as it is a recall. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Me and Mrs Paint got a good giggle from that site. Said my truck wasn't a Ford product. I could show 'em photos of the blue oval on the grill, the big FORD on the tailgate and the VIN tag on the dash, but they'd probably argue that I did something wrong to the VIN number.
To quote:
"This is not a Ford Motor Company brand vehicle. "
The site did say from 1994-2002, so maybe it doesn't recognize a '92 VIN.
If you don't mind giving your vin# I could see what I can do....otherwise just give your vin# to the service department at your local ford dealer. They can help you also. Good luck and sorry the site wasn't any help.
Found this on FTE. Not sure if it is up to date thought. It just tells you the recalls. It doesn't tell you if they have been done to your vehicle.
Umm, I read it off a receipt from TWO local disservice departments. It found my '86 T-bird, but still claims my '92 F-150 ain't a Ford product. I'll check the VIN tomorrow and try again, just in case the Disservice Departments put it on the bills wrong. Now would not be a good time to find out I had a bogus VIN number after owning this truck for 14 years. Either that, or Ford's fed up with my complaining about the local Disservice Departments and have disowned my truck. Really funny, in a strange sort of way. You complain to the dealer about the work, they send you to the customer hotline, and they tell you that your problem is with the dealer, call them. Typical big company mentality and tactics.
[QUOTE=Old_Paint]...recalls on the cruise control. Were the '92's covered as well?QUOTE]
That was the big problem with the '97-'03 Gen. Cruise would spark and flash the insulation in the coloum or e-comp and then catch fire. A friend of mine had a '99 Expedition and the sombitch caught fire after his wife came home from the grocery store. Burned up the car and the rest of the house.
I did not like the idea that mine might catch fire while I was not there so I rewired my 95 so that the speed control (AKA Cruise Control) only has power when the key is in the run (ON) position.
So now my 95 has the new little Ford harness with a fuse, I also added a small inline fuse and it only gets power with the key on. I also have a fire extinguisher in the truck that I could use, hopefully not on mine.
