I have an 06 F250 with the 6disc changer in the dash that has the AUX button, but not the SAT button. What I want to do is add Sirius capability to the truck with the least amount of expense. Will a Sirius module work, or do I have to get a different head unit? Regardless, where does the Sirius module mount?
Any help would be appreciated. BTW, this is my first topic, so consider my cherry broken.
The Sirius portable units can be hard wired into the stereo if it has input jacks or you can just use the rebroadcast function to transmit from the Sirius receiver to an empty FM station on your radio.
My truck is a 97 and has a pretty old-school radio that didn't have any input jacks in the back so I just use the rebroadcaster. Works great.
If you use the rebroadcast feature, you can mount the unit anywhere you want to. If you hard wire, location can be impacted by the location of the easiest access into the dash to run the wires. But anything is possible with time and money!
You definitely do not have to buy a different head unit.
I've got XM already but I want that "factory" look and want to know if the OEM radios that have Serius capability will work in my truck. If they will, I'll just sell my head unit on Ebay and buy one that will work like I need it to. I've got the radio controls on the steering wheel and really want everything to work together.
