What Should I Do
and what all things else should i do to it, i want a daily driver though, something that still gets good gas mileage, after that i would slap on some Hedman Headers, and true duals, i mean no cats, or glasspacks, thats they way im going on that.
Any suggestions would be helpful
thanks, Weston
Now, when the guy wants 350 HP, I'd rather have the 351W over the 302, since both will be modified and the 351W will definitely be more streetable.
here is a turnkey truck engine, let me know what u guys think of this
First of all, depending on which system you have, you could be limited on your cam choice. If it's a speed density system (identified by NOT having a Mass Air Flow meter on the intake tube next to the air box, but having the MAP sensor mounted high on the passenger side of the firewall with a black vaccuum line running to it, and a wide electrical connector), you are limited. You will have to get a cam with 0 overlap. However, they still make cams with just a higher lift.
If you have Mass Air Flow, you can get whatever cam your heart desires. The Mass Air Flow meter is advanced enough to detect overlap, whereas the speed density system has a factory preset for airflow and can not be adjusted.
Note that the 302's were upgraded to MAF earlier than the release of the MAF 351 in 1996. I thinkt he 302 got it in 93 or 94.
Just a few things you might want to consider. Also might want to consider some type of muffler. Running straight exhaust all the way back will kill what little low-end torque that 302 has now.

So if i just run straight pipe on my 351 im guessing i will lose low end torque too? just curious cause im considering exhaust on my truck soon

We need to say where we live when we do these. Landscape is every thing. I was just using my data to show difference. I live in North central PA mountians. My 95 F150 4x4 3.55 rears 351 e40d have got 15 MPg on trip out west (flat ) but have got almost 20 Mpg out of same setup truck , color ,gears , tires ect w/302 .
I get 15 Mpg every day driving (17.4 on trip to Georgia at 75 MPH) in my 94 F150 maf 302 e4od 4x4 sc lb 3.55 rears. My father has a low milage F150 with same stuff . He used to race cars and tunes his truck weekly .(retired) he followed me and on same trip with cruise never got above 14.5 mpg. later
