Itp Fuel Kit- Worth It Or Something Else?

Is the ITP kit worth the money or is there a home made way of doing it? I have been seeing the Hutch mod but will it do the same thing as the ITP kit or would I just be better served to do the kit? Also, is the ITP kit hard to install?

Did my own DIY hutch mod some time ago and spent as much money and more time than if I had bought the kit. It a very good deal for the price and everything is there that you need.

Some simply attach a rubber hose to the return line and lay it in the tank but you have to make sure you use 30R10 rated fuel line (submursable). I would also stay away from galvanized brake line inside your fuel tank.

Dennis's fuel kit is great! One of the best out. I am building my own, but thats just because I want too. Mine will cost more in the long run I would bet....

Which ITP fuel mod are you looking at?

The in-tank/prepump kit is essentially the Hutch mod. The ITP version is a little different, and they offer a pretty big pre-pump filter. If you get the filterless version, it's less than half price. My the time you hunt down parts to build your own, it's not cost effective over purchasing the kit ready to go. Basically I'm running the Hutch mod, but I purchased my kit from another sponsor. They all do the same thing, remove the mixing chamber and eliminate air being pulled in when fuel is less than 1/4 tank.

The regulated return kit is different than the Hutch mod. It's more expensive, but it eliminates the deadhead fuel rail, and supplies you with an adjustable fuel regulator. These kits also have good reputations for working very well in our trucks. By getting rid of that air, the #8 injector isn't starving for fuel, and the truck in general runs much quieter and better. The regulated return mod is the next mod that I have planned for my truck.

Yeah the kit I was looking at was the Fuel tank/ Pre pump kit. Do i need to pay the extra for that filter or not? Any thoughts. Because if i can save the money and cut the cost in half, that would be sweet but if i need it, let me know
Thanks

It's best to have some kind of filter. The in-tank mods do allow more gunk to flow to the fuel pump. The filter is there to keep the pump from dying on you. Of course Dennis gives you the option of using his filter setup or going with something else. It's up to you, just make sure the filter you are using is rated for diesel applications.

I used the ITP kit a couple of weeks ago. Well sorted kit that comes with everything you'll need including detailed instructions and quality parts. The filter setup is sweet, I'm glad I went w/their kit. Well worth the $ in my opinion. Oh, and get the PVC cutters, I learned the hard way and used a short hacksaw blade. Took an extra hour plus got filthy from having to completely drain tank and clean out ALL the shavings

Man, I don't know how you pulled that off. I tried but ended up getting the cutter and cleaning up the residue from trying. It is worth every penny for the PVC cutter even though I may never use it again. Besides, I believe HarborFreight has one on sale for $2.99 right now.

Well, I had a pair of hand sized garden pruners that worked great on the smaller diameter pipe. Got all confident thinking 'those guys on the forum don't know s**t'. Then tried on the larger pipe, and let's just say I learned a valuable lesson. It was a royal PITA cutting that pipe, the tank necks down on the inside right near the insertion point. I think I made like three cuts all the while repositioning my hands just to make the full cut. Lesson learned after mucho cussing. Took about 5 hours to do everything(Hutch/Harpoon/filter), was by myself. Extra hour just to cut one pipe and clean up my disaster (and make sure NO shavings left in tank). Tank straps, especially rear, didn't want to get remounted after bending them back...

Ron are you sure you don't have a cracked flexplate? Two of my Powerstroke Buddies have early99's and they both have the rattle this is diagnosed as a cracked flexplate.

Are you saying that it is quieter the colder it is? That is the opposite of mine even with fuel mods.
