I just recently bought an 05 XLT with leather low miles great truck, I upgraded from a 97 dodge ram. So far I love the truck but I have to say the front seats of my old dodge were much nicer, and that center console was great. So my question is this, has anyone swapped out the front seats for something more comfortable? I would just like the passenger seat to recline all the way back. (we do a few hunting trips out west and the 30hr ride won't be that comfortable with out a little more recline). Thx.
The seats should be interchangable with the earilier superduties, and my 02's seats and console are rather comfortable and the best seat I have when my back hurts.
I bought the truck used so I didn't really have an option I think it must just be that this was ordered with front buckets and the 40/20/40 seat would have been much better.
I am pretty sure that the majority of the seat components are the same (ie the seat pan) between the 40/20/40 seats and the captains chairs. Somewhere I read that the vendor is one of Johnson Controls divisions, they make all the seats, and one can even buy the '20' portion of the seat to replace the console in a captains chair model truck. So, my point is, if you just go buy a 40/20/40 seat it might feel just like the captains chair - at least to your 'seat'.
In my former Ford I replaced the factory bench with seats from 'Coach' company. They were the best, most comfortable seats I've ever had in a vehicle. And damn expensive at $1000 in 1991.
