1966 bedside molding

Does the short end of the bedside molding for a 1966 ford pickup go to the top or bottom?

If I recall correctly, the short is on top

on my truck the bed molding has two different ends on end is flaten off the end is rounded down. The rounded end goes to the tailgate. As far as i can see that is the only thing that matters.

not to hijack with an incredibly dumb question, but...

Is there a good way to get the moulding off without removing the clips. There has to be, but i need to remove them too because all the nuts are rusted.

I would try heavy soaking in Bp Blaster or another product to loosen the rust and remove them completely, but if won't; then maybe if you could get a hook style handle (small pick) behind the molding, then you could probably relieve the clips pins. In my opinion, be too difficult to remount.
