Ok so,
Has anyone else seen whats goin on up in the Nor-cal chapter?? If not Ill tell you a little bit...thyre building a chapter sponsored vehicle and are planning what looks to be a cool event. Something along the lines of a Nor-Cal and Nevada Chapter build off.
My question to you all is if there are any of us besides myself who think this might be a fun thing to attend or be a part of? From what I can figure out theyre working on setting everything up and have already begun gathering parts for the build...so lemme know if you guys want to make it an event or not...I know Im probably gonna go.

Or, why not build a So-Cal chapter truck to compete against the Nor-Cal, and Nevada trucks? I am sure there are plenty of junkyards to scrounge parts from down in So-Cal. And they would be rust free, and tanned like the residents
We could def. do that...if we get enough people in on it...we could do a chapter build..I think it would be cool..I know of at least 2 Pick-A-Parts out here in Riverside county and one down in the Longbeach area.

I know of a Pick-A-Part on Beach Bl in Stanton. I used to live a mile away from there. I also think Stacy still has that 72 4x4 truck you could get for $200. However, that thing has numerous problems, and somehow we would have to get it down south. Not too mention who would have a place they could keep it while it is being upgraded/repaired? I was thinking of buying it just for the heck of it, and fixing it up slowly. However, I don't have a way to get it here, and it has the oil pan/rear diff cover, and one valve cover off, and according to Clint, it is litteral covered with spider webs. I am sure I could flat tow it with my truck if it was not for the open rear end. Clint says there is sand and dirt in the gears. :-( Should be able to find a better truck as a starter than that one, down south.
Yeah ,
Just for giggles ive been looking around here..although I really dont have room for another project..Ive already got my good ol 73...my boat...and my (i know im gonna get reemed for this) 72 Elky in the garage w/ the front end tore off right now. But Ive found a couple different interesting possible project trucks even on cragislist .. like an 86 4x4 for 500 that looks like it could be brought back to life.
Take a look at some of the things I found on there http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/car/251427845.html http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/car/256564153.html http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/243627407.html

I like the one for $500, it looks like a good starting point. The Bronco would be cool too but it is more expensive. The 3rd one looks to be a good deal, and it already has a V8 in it. However it does not look like it is a 4x4. If it is not too much hassle to change a 2 wheel drive into 4x4 then there is a '79 F250 with good front clip, and bed, 460/C6/Dana 60 for free in the Sacramento area on Craigslist.
It would need a cab and doors, but the owner says it runs (or ran before the tree fell on it) However, there is no pink slip. If you plan on driving the truck it would need to be regsitered, and who knows what the fees would be? Of course there are ways to get around that. I am going to call the owner tomorrow and find out if it is still available. Free is free, and if you are not interested, I will keep it for myself if it is still there. (And I can figure out how to get it to Fresno!)
Yeah I saw that one over on the Nor-Cal chapter and I must admit it is tempting lol..72 Elky is a 72 Chevy El Camino...it isnt a Ford but its an old truck and it was one that I had been wanting since before I can remember.. it was the one last "Gotta have it no matter what" vheicles.
I was gonna actually see about stopping by that 86 and take a look at it cuz it looked the most promising out of all of them...only thing that kinda kills it for ME is that its so new and only has that inline six...not really a motor that comes to mind winning any competitions lately haha.

Ah that makes sense. My favorite year El Camino is the 1970. I like the dual headlight styling of that year. Now if I can find one with an LS-6 in it, sitting on some farmer's back forty real cheap, then I'll be in car Heaven!
