they started using them long before the powerstroke too. But plow hand is correct any manual trans powerstroke unless already converted will have a DMF. My dad had a 91 7.3 with a DMF also. My guess is they have used them since the 6.9 IDI came out.

not real sure of that one. I want to say in 2000 or 2001 but they may also still be using them. But I think I heard somebody say they stopped using them some time during the superduty run.
