Option on '64 - Tool Box

All,

Have you ever heard of an option on the 64 Styleside --- a lockable tool box located ahead of the right rear wheel?? It was located below the pickup box floor. Recently, I read about it. Anyone ever seen one?? Does anyone sell them?? Thanks, folks.

hombre, like to take opportunity to welcome you!!

Believe covered 64-66 'tool storage compartment'. I have what appears to be 2 conflicting part numbers, perhaps more knowledgeable member will be able to provide correct info. The listing in the 'Motorcraft Master Catalog' is C5TZ 8146132-A for the lwb, and C5TZ 8146132-B for the short styleside box. The listing I came up from the 'Body/Interior Assembly Manual' is C4TB 9946100-C and D. Have a 65 lwb styleside with only the door. Previous owner removed the box to install extra gas tank. Have since removed the tank and happen to come across one in wrecking yard sometime back, think those finds are becoming far and few between, and trying to find one may be harder to find than hen's teeth. Have seen them on ebay on couple of occasions but it has been sometime since I have had to shop for parts either thru salvage, Ford part supplier's, or ebay, perhap another member with more recent shopping experience can advise. Suggest browse the FTE classified, in addition, may want to post request if there is a 'parts wanted' section of the classified.

Right off the bat I can tell you that C4TB number is NOT an actual part number, but an engineering number. There are just the two boxes...1964-66.

Kit, Compartment Assy, Tool Storage

C4TZ-9946132-A (no application given)

C4TZ-9946132-B (no application given)

Compartment Assy, Tool Storage

These numbers replaced the above kit parts numbers. (confusing isn't it!)

C4TZ-9946100-A (short wheelbase)

C4TZ-9946100-B (long wheelbase)

My Ford Truck Parts Book (original 1964-1972) does not list the C5TZ prefix.

So, while there are only two boxes, there are four part numbers for the 2 boxes !!

Hombre 292, I had one on my '64 when I got it about 4 years ago. It was extremely rusted through and I took it off. The sides and hinges were rusted through. It laid inside the truck bed and I believe it bolted from the bottom of the bed. It did have a latch that you could use a lock with. It was the same color as the truck. I haven't looked to see if there are any replacements for it but if you find something, please post it.

Exclamation

The door frame screws to the bed side. There is a L shaped bracket that bolts from the side of the tool box to the underside of the pickup bed.

Exploded view of tool box: Sheet Metal Section, Pg 27 of the 1964-1972 Ford Illustration parts book.
