I'm looking for a decent quality entry level timing light and my choices seem to be pretty slim, our local shops carry Equus/Innova, their model # 3551 is in my price range and says it reads engine RPM, does anyone own one of these ? have any recommendations ?

I would try ebay. I have a light that is adjustable as much as 35 degrees. So if the TDC mark is easier to read, like on a Harley, you can read that instead of the little dot. I guess it doesn't matter much on trucks though.
I'll second the one with an ajustable advance. Mine is a Snap on that I bought second hand and I love it. On my Camaro I set the total timing at 2500 - 3000 rpms with it by just setting the **** at 36* and putting the mark on the dampner at 0*. Alot easier than trying to read 36* on the dampner.
I have a Snap On timing light with out the advance. I usually set my initial timing where it goes. And with the vacuum for the vacuum advanced unplugged, I check total timing. Have had the light over 18 years and has been real reliable.
