I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," but its just an annoyance when your power locks don't work. I got a 99 F250 Lariat Scab and my passenger side door lock jumps just a bit when i press the lock/unlock button both on the door and keyless entry. I wasn't worried with it too much until my driver side starting acting up. It works fine when you only lock/unlock it seldom, so i'm afraid its about to go out too. What is my problem, is the actuator just worn out. Someone mentioned to me that when the lock jumps slightly, that the solenoid is bad. I've never been inside the door panel, so i'm not really sure whats going on. Any help/suggestions welcomed, thanks!!!
cobramustangboy I am having the same exact problem. I also have a 99 F250 Lariat. The locks just jump a little bit just like you say. If anybody could help us out I would appricate it.
....search for 'door locks'...you'll find all kinds of info on how to fix this problem - it's been talked about for years, and we all have the same problem...
You've got to tear inside the doors and fix the actuaters!
If you're good at it, you can repair your old ones, or go to your trusty Ford dealer and get some new ones - about $50 each, LH, and RH pcs.
I fixed one of mine and screwed up the other, so I went and bought two new ones...Ford has a newer design, and I'm hoping they will last for a while on my 99, F-350!
Unhooking all the door lock stuff is a real pain in the '6', but you'll get better at it on the 2nd door! Take the latch and outside handle loose to get at the parts. The linkage is kinda tricky, and another 'fun' thing to deal with!
