If it is driven everyday I would say the short box is the way to go, I can get plywood and Sheetrock home with the tailgate down or take the trailer. If it is used mostly for towing I would get the long bed. I have the CC sb and just a few times (moving was one) I wished I had the longer truck. Most of the time I am happy being able to get around a little bit eaiser. The CC SB still has a long enough wheelbase to handle well and cut through the snow.
For me it made sense. I have an 18 foot trailer that I can use to get sheet good, steel, and what not. I drive into the suburbs of chicago and Milwaukee so being able to park and get around a little bit easier is nice. I have not put the new four wheeler in the bed yet so then I might be wishing for a longer bed but over all I am happy with 6.75. like I said if it was for towing only or a work truck the 8 foot would be a must. If I had a super cab and not a Crew I wuld have gotten the 8 footer.
I have had both and personally i will never own another short bed. heck i cant even lay my weedeater in the bed without it laying all crossed up. long boed it much better!
I went with the longbed on my '06. The SB on my 97 150 drove me nuts! Plus, I think it just makes the truck look better, but that's just my opinion. I put a tool box on mine, and it looks great. Oh yeah, rides better also. But it can be a pain to park sometimes!
